Resource Centre
About the Resource Centre
The Resource Centre contains an extensive collection of books, vertical file material, photographs, maps, audiotapes and videotapes, microfiche and microfilm, and local newspapers and community newsletters providing information about the history of Knox and the former Shire of Ferntree Gully.
The Knox Historical Society is in negotiation with Knox Council regarding a new Resource Centre. This modern purpose-built building would house not only the Society's resources but have a meeting room which other groups in the area may utilise.
The School Photo Collection
The largest school photo collection in Australia, made possible by the contributions of past students, teachers, parents, etc is housed at Ambleside Homestead Museum.
With over 21,000 images from more than 50 schools in the local area, all information provided regarding names of the individuals photographed is provided by members of the public. If you or someone you know went to a school in Knox, the Society would love your input on these images as many records are still incomplete.
All school photos collected are accessible to the public for viewing and can be purchased as printed or digital copies for a fee of $10 per image.
Research enquiries can still be made via email to khs@relics.com or by phone (03) 9758 6722. Knox Historical Society is a not-for-profit organisation, managed by local volunteers.
